Installation wizard

The installation wizard runs automatically when you power on the BLAZE Appliance for the first time or after a factory reset to perform initial setup.

After accepting the License agreement, click Start setup on the wizard start screen to begin configuration.

Screen layout

  • Navigate between items with the mouse or the [Tab] and [Enter] keys.
  • Use Next to go to the next step and Back to return to the previous step.

Step 1: Language settings

Select the language from the dropdown menu (default: English (US)). The wizard text updates to the selected language.

Step 2: Network settings

Before configuring the system, set the IP and DHCP settings for each network port.

To configure network settings later, click Skip network configuration. Steps 1–4 below will be skipped.

1. Check physical connection

The wizard provides images to ensure correct port connections.

  1. Connect appliance to the internet: Use the Network 2 port to connect the appliance to the internet. When the cable is connected, the port icon turns green and Connected to internet is displayed.
  2. Connect devices to appliance: Connect cameras to the PoE ports or Network 1. The status changes to Connected to LAN depending on connection status.

2. Network 1 settings (Camera network)

Under IP assignment, choose Manual or DHCP.

  • Manual: Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and other values (default: Manual).
  • DHCP server: Enable the appliance DHCP server to assign IPs to cameras. Set IP ranges and lease times for each port. If another DHCP server is detected on the network, a warning is shown and activation is not recommended.
    • If another DHCP server is detected, the enable switch is set to OFF by default to prevent conflicts. If you attempt to enable it, a warning is displayed.
    • Do not enable the DHCP server on ports connected to the internet.

3. Network 2 settings (External network)

  • This port is for internet connection and is typically connected to the external network; keep the DHCP server disabled.
  • Under IP assignment, choose Manual or DHCP.

4. Network common settings

  • Default gateway: Select the network interface to use as the default gateway (default: Network 2).
  • Server port: Default is 8000.

5. Review configuration summary

When all network settings are complete, a summary screen is displayed. The summary includes:
  • The connection status of network ports supported by each model (Not connected, Connected to LAN, Connected to internet)
  • IP assignment method (Manual, DHCP)
  • Whether the DHCP server is enabled

Step 3: Time settings

Set the server time.

  • Automatically adjust for daylight saving time: Apply daylight saving time (DST) automatically (default: checked).
  • Synchronize with NTP server: If checked, enter an external NTP server address (e.g., ntp.ubuntu.com) to synchronize time. If unchecked, manual date and time pickers are enabled (default: unchecked).
  • Time zone: Select from the time zones supported by BLAZE (default: GMT +00:00).

Step 4: System name

  • Enter the system name shown on the network (default: DESKTOP-XXXXXX).

Step 5: Account settings

  • Set the password for the Super administrator (admin) account.
    • The password must be 8–32 characters and include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
    • Re-enter the same password in Confirm password.

Step 6: Setup complete

  • When the "You're all set!" message appears, click Finish.
