See the following terms when using BLAZE:
Key term Definition Use
Action Action that is performed by the system as a response to event triggers. Can be set up in Rules. Include sending notifications, recording from cameras, and more.

Add bookmark Action of creating bookmark.
Add to layout Adding camera or other items (file, webpage, etc.) to a layout. View tab
Advanced PTZ PTZ mode available on some PTZ cameras that enables features such as “Go to point” and “Zoom to area”. Advanced PTZ camera item feature
Alert Currently persistent issue with hardware or software within a BLAZE system.

Archive Video recorded from cameras and stored on BLAZE server. Health monitoring tab
Archive retention The span of time for which video archive can be kept.
Attribute Various elements identified by BLAZE the user can use to Search or Filter by. AI video search and filters
Authentication The act of verifying a user's identity through a password or other factors.

Camera FOV Camera field of view – angle that is visible from the camera. Maps tab
Client

Application that can connect to a server and be used to manage the server settings, view and search recorded videos, etc.

There can be different clients:

  • Desktop client: desktop application
  • Mobile client: mobile application
  • Web client: web-based application

Cloud account Hanwha Vision Cloud Portal accounts that can be invited to BLAZE systems.

Cloud system System that is linked to the cloud and has enabled cloud features. Cloud settings
Clustering / Detaching

Clustering is the act of adding additional servers into a BLAZE system.

Detaching is the act of removing a server from a clustered BLAZE system (a system consisting of 2 or more servers).

Connect and disconnect are the used when referring to client and system or server interactions.

Log in
Connections Saved server connections scanned by BLAZE client, or linked to cloud account. Displayed on login screen. Log in
Crop window Camera item feature that lets the user draw a rectangle on the screen, creating a new camera item focused on the highlighted area.
Custom role Role added to a system that doesn’t exist by default. User management
Device An umbrella term for an individual unit of hardware.
Dewarping The process of normalizing the view of a fisheye camera effectively turning it into a standard camera view.

Digital zoom Feature that lets you zoom in on an area currently in the camera's view without editing the camera's optical zoom or affecting what is currently being recorded. View tab
Drive The addressable storage inside a server.
Dynamic Grid Drag videos to move them to the desired position. When the position of a video item changes, the item size (grid) automatically increases or decreases.
Event Events that occurred on the BLAZE system or server, or on devices such as cameras connected to BLAZE.

Event trigger Element in Rules that can trigger actions in the rule because of certain events.
Excluding area Areas on video where motion and/or object detection is not performed. Device settings
Failover Feature that enables servers to take cameras from other servers in the same systems in case of other servers failure. Allows to maintain user’s access to the cameras and continuous recording in case of some servers failure. Server settings
Federation Group of BLAZE systems that share common users and settings. Can be used to access resources (cameras, users, settings) from multiple systems in one UI.

Group / Ungroup Act of grouping or ungrouping multiple devices into and out of folders on a device tree.

Health monitoring A major feature tab that contains a series of tools and features that provide overviews and alerts for software and hardware issues within a system. Health monitoring tab
Histogram A style of graph used on the timeline panel to help display the quantity of object detection, motion detection, and events in line with the timeline.

I/O Settings related to input/output devices. Settings
Item Any element than can be placed on the view tab. These include camera items, webpage items, and file items.

Layout Set of cameras and other items (images, webpages, video files) that can be saved for a quick access, assigned to other users, and opened in a separate tab in BLAZE.

Link / Unlink Link and unlink refer to a system being added to or removed from an organization, linking the system so that the organization can view and manage it remotely. Cloud settings
Map In the client, display saved map images in the Scene panel. Cameras from the device list can be placed on the map, and when motion is detected by the camera, an animation effect is triggered, allowing you to quickly check the event.
Metadata The additional data related to the video – objects, motion, events.

Permissions Actions that user is allowed to do – like view live, create layouts, export video. Settings
Playback Play back recorded videos stored on the server using the playback function of the client software.
Primary stream Primary camera video stream. Typically has high resolution and quality.

Role Set of permissions and access lists (for layouts and devices) that can be assigned to a user. User management
Rules Section of the BLAZE application where users can set up if/then rules for the BLAZE system by selecting event triggers and tying them to actions. Rules
Secondary stream Secondary camera video stream. Typically has low resolution and quality.
Server

Server application that connects to cameras and other pieces of Hanwha software and stores video archive, analytics database, users and settings.

Multiple servers can be merged into a single System.

Simple PTZ Basic PTZ mode where continuous PTZ move is supported. View tab
Storage The total capacity from all drives in a server. Server settings
System One or more BLAZE servers connected together and sharing the same settings and users.
Thumbnail A feature on the timeline that adds a row of image previews from various points on the timeline. View tab
2-way audio Enabling the microphone and speaker functions of the camera allows for bidirectional audio communication between the client and the camera.
User A user or user account is a local or cloud account used to store user information and authenticate connections to BLAZE system. Settings
Zoom to area This advanced PTZ feature lets the user to click and drag to draw a rectangular area within the current camera view. View tab
