Automatic backups

To prevent data loss, the system performs regular automatic backups. Automatic backup files (*.bbu) are encrypted and stored. The initial automatic backup password is set to match the Super administrator password entered during system setup. The administrator password and the automatic backup password can be changed independently.

Note: License information is not included in automatic backup files.

Automatic backups

  • Backup schedule
    • Daily at midnight: If any configuration changes have occurred, the system performs a backup at midnight.
    • Before update: The system performs a backup automatically before software updates.
    • Before clustering: The system performs a backup automatically before server clustering.
  • Backup file management
    • The system retains up to five backup files for each backup type (scheduled, pre-update, pre-clustering).
    • Automatic backup files are created on all disks owned by the server (in a clustered environment, they are created across the entire system).
  • Backup file location
    • Windows: C:\Hanwha Vision\BLAZE server\Archive
    • Linux: /opt/hanwha Vision/media server/backup
Note: The storage path for automatic backup files cannot be changed.

Automatic backup file password

  • Initial password policy
    • The Super admin password entered during initial system setup is set as the initial automatic backup file password.
  • Password management
    • In Settings > Backup and restore, click (Auto backup settings) next to Next backup is scheduled at to change the automatic backup file password.
    • Changing the password does not require authentication of the previous password; enter only the new password.
    • The new password applies to backup files created after the change. To restore a previous backup file, enter the password that was in effect when that file was created.
    • During system restoration, enter the automatic backup file password that was applied to the backup file being restored — not the current Super administrator password.

To view and download automatic backup files

The Automatic backup tab lists generated backup files.

Select a file and click Download file to save it to the client PC. The default download path is the same as for manual backup files.
