Monitoring temperature detection events

Receive automatic alerts when the configured temperature threshold is exceeded.

To create a temperature detection rule

Create temperature detection rules in BLAZE. The detection area and temperature threshold are configured on each device's webpage.

  1. On the Home page, click Settings.
  2. Click Rules > Add rule, then enter the event rule name in the text box at the top of the Rules page.
  3. Under When, click Add event and select Temperature detection from the trigger list.
  4. Click Select devices, then select the camera channel(s) to apply the temperature detection rule; only channels that support the temperature detection trigger will be shown.
  5. Click Open webpage, then in the Camera webpage window click Analytics > Temperature detection.
  6. On the Temperature detection page, configure the temperature detection settings. For example, to trigger a temperature detection event when the average temperature in a specific area is 100°F or higher for 5 seconds, configure as follows.
    • Draw the area to detect temperature on the video by dragging the mouse. The area number is assigned automatically in Area.
    • Enter a desired name in Area name.
    • Select Avg in Temperature type.
    • Select Above in Detection condition.
    • Enter 100 in Detection. The temperature unit can be changed in Video & Audio > Temperature setup > Temperature Settings > Temperature Unit.
    • Enter 5 in Minimum duration (s). This is the minimum duration time the detected temperature must be maintained to trigger a temperature detection event.
    • In Area emissivity, enter the emissivity reference value the camera uses to analyze temperature. Emissivity varies depending on surface treatment, color, measured temperature, ambient temperature, and other factors, so determine the appropriate value through repeated testing. Entering an accurate emissivity value yields more accurate temperature measurements. For detailed emissivity information, see the camera help.
  7. Close the Camera webpage window.
  8. In the Select devices window, click the Select button.
  9. Under Do, click Add action, then choose the action type to execute when a temperature detection event occurs.
    • If the temperature threshold is exceeded in any of the configured detection areas, BLAZE will trigger an alert.
    • If you select the Show notification option, a snapshot is displayed in the notification panel when a temperature detection event occurs. Click it to view full event information and video.

  10. Click Apply.
