Settings

Settings are required to use intercom cameras in BLAZE. Modify the initial settings assigned when registering an intercom camera.

Intercom camera registration

For instructions on registering an intercom camera with BLAZE, see Adding a device.

Note: When you register an intercom camera with BLAZE, a Call Request event rule is automatically created. For information on configuring event rules, see Call request event rule.

2-way audio settings

Configure the audio input and output of the intercom camera.

  1. Click Settings > Devices.
  2. Select the intercom camera from the device list on the Device settings page.
  3. In the Device settings panel, click the Audio tab.
  4. Set the toggle for Audio input to On.
    • Audio from
      • To receive audio from the camera's internal microphone, select Internal microphone.
      • To receive audio from an external microphone connected to the camera, select External microphone. If the external microphone is not powered, select Power to external mic to supply power from the camera.
    • Codec: Choose the audio codec to use when monitoring live video or recording. G.711 and G.726 codecs are suitable for recording at voice-call quality, while AAC is suitable for high-quality audio or video streaming.
    • Sampling rate: The frequency at which audio samples are taken per second. Higher values improve audio quality but increase file size.
    • Bitrate: The amount of audio data processed per second. Higher values improve audio quality but increase file size. Available settings depend on the selected codec.
    • Gain: Sets the input level for incoming audio. Higher values increase the input volume.
    • Noise reduction: Select Enable to configure how much noise is removed from the incoming audio.
  5. Set the toggle for Audio output to On.
    • Audio to:
    • Gain: Sets the output volume level. Higher values increase the output volume.
  6. Click Apply.

User permission settings

To use the intercom feature in BLAZE, grant users or user groups permission for the 2-way audio feature.

Note: Among user roles, Administrator and Operator have permission to use the 2-way audio feature by default.

To grant a user 2-way audio permission

  1. Click Settings > Users.
  2. On the Users page, select the user to whom you want to grant 2-way audio permission.
  3. In the User settings panel, click Role and then select Custom permissions.
    • The selected user will be moved under Custom permissions in the user list.
  4. Click the Permissions tab.
  5. Under Video > View live, select the 2-way audio checkbox.
  6. Click Apply.

To create and apply a role with 2-way audio permissions

  1. Click Settings > Roles.
  2. On the Roles page, click Add role.
  3. Enter a role name (e.g., Intercom control) in the text box at the top of the Role settings panel.
  4. In the Role settings panel, click the Permissions tab.
  5. Under Video > View live, select the 2-way audio checkbox.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click Settings > Users.
  8. On the Users page, select the user who will use the intercom feature.
  9. In the User settings panel, click Role and select the role name you specified in step 3 (e.g., Intercom control).
    • The new role name (e.g., Intercom control) will be added to the user list, and the selected user will be moved under that role.
