Edge storage

Edge storage backup records video continuously to the camera's SD card. If video cannot be saved to the server because of network issues, this feature enables recovery from the SD card and helps prevent loss of recorded footage.
Note: This feature is supported on cameras registered via SUNAPI or ONVIF. However, when devices are registered via ONVIF, methods for configuring SD card recording vary by manufacturer and may limit BLAZE control. For reliable operation, complete the recording settings on the camera's web configuration page before use.

To enable edge storage

  1. Click Settings > Devices.
  2. Select the camera from the device list on the Device settings page.
  3. In the Device settings panel, click the Edge storage tab.
  4. Toggle Edge storage backup to On and click Apply.

SD card status

Check the SD card status for cameras with edge storage backup enabled without accessing the camera's web interface.

  • SD card insertion status: Indicates whether the SD card is inserted.
  • SD card status: Displays the SD card status.
  • SD card capacity: Displays the SD card's total capacity.
Note: Only cameras registered via SUNAPI support SD card status monitoring.

Backup from SD card

When the network connection is restored after a disconnection, video segments not saved to the server are automatically recovered from the camera's SD card.

Backup may fail in the following cases:
  • No response from the camera during the backup request.
  • No video available for the requested backup period.
  • SD card video is being played back or backed up by another user.
  • Camera connection is lost during the backup request.
Note:
  • Channels undergoing backup cannot be transferred to another server.
  • If backup fails, a health alert is sent and a manual retry is possible.

Backup video playback

Recovered video from edge storage plays seamlessly along the timeline with server-recorded footage.
Note: Event marking and histogram features are not supported for recovered video.

SD card format

To ensure stable backup performance, format the camera's SD card remotely when necessary.

  • Select the camera from the device list and click Format storage to format the SD card.
Note: Only cameras registered via SUNAPI support SD card format functionality.
