Adding a device using an IP address

If the device you want to add and the desired server are not on the same network, or if you are adding a device to a running system, directly enter the IP address of the device to add it to the server. Manual scan searches for multiple devices within an IP range. Known address searches for a specific device by its IP address.
Note: When adding devices by entering IP addresses, only IPv4 format addresses can be entered. For more information, see Adding a device with manual scan. If the device is on a different network than the server, adding it may be restricted. To register a device on a different network, use the Adding a device with auto scan feature.

To add a device using an IP address

  1. Click Settings > Devices.
  2. Click Add device > Known address.
  3. In the Add device dialog, select the server to which you want to add the device, then enter the device IP address.
    • The server list is only displayed when there are multiple connected servers. If only one server is connected, the server list is not displayed.
  4. To register the device using the HTTPS protocol for enhanced security, select Use HTTPS.
  5. If necessary, under Authentication credentials, enter the device's username and password, then click Search.
  6. Select the desired device from the list of scan results and click Add N selected.
  7. Click Finish.

Adding a device using a DDNS URL

You can manually register a device using a DDNS (Dynamic DNS) URL instead of an IP address. The system handles the following two types of DDNS hosts differently.

  • Standard DDNS (e.g., iptime): As with a regular IP address, HTTP and HTTPS ports can be configured separately.
  • Wisenet DDNS (Hanwha service): Operates using a single host-based address (e.g., ddns.hanwha-security.com/sample). Separate port settings and HTTP/HTTPS selection do not apply. The server ignores the port setting and Use HTTPS option configured in the client and determines connectivity using only the entered address.

To add a device using a DDNS URL

  1. Click Settings > Devices.
  2. On the Device settings page, click Add device > Known address.
  3. Enter the DDNS URL in the Address field. Configure the settings according to the DDNS type.
    • Standard DDNS: Enter the domain name (for example, sample.iptime.org) in the Address field, and enter the protocol port to use (for example, 8080 or 8443). To use HTTPS, select Use HTTPS.
    • Wisenet DDNS: Enter the full service address (for example, ddns.hanwha-security.com/sample) in the Address field. Because the connection is established using only the entered address, the Port field and Use HTTPS option are ignored.
  4. Click Search to validate the address and search for the device.
  5. Click Finish.
