Configuring image settings

Adjust the brightness, sharpness, and exposure of the camera to monitor and record clearer video. Use image settings to adjust specific areas of the video during monitoring, and also when the camera is not positioned properly, necessitating adjustments for the field of view or lens corrections.
Note:
  • The setting options may vary depending on the specifications of the connected camera.
  • If multiple cameras are selected, the image will not appear under the Image tab.

To configure image settings

  1. Click Settings > Devices.
  2. In the Device settings page, select the desired device from the list of devices.
  3. In the Device settings panel, click the Image tab.
  4. Under the tab, click other tabs to configure detailed settings.
  5. After completing the settings, click Apply.

PTRZ / focus settings

Adjust the field of view (FOV) of the PTRZ camera and set the zoom and focus. Click the PTRZ / Focus tab at the bottom in Scene to make settings.
Note:
  • The PTRZ/Focus tab is only visible on PTRZ devices. For a detailed description, see Configuring PTZ settings.
  • Each control item displayed may vary according to the device specifications.
  • For multichannel devices, PTRZ/Focus settings can be configured for each channel.
  • Cameras equipped with variable focus lenses that allow focus distance adjustment do not support PTZ features. The PTZ tab will not be displayed; only the Zoom and Focus setting options will appear in the Focus tab.
  • Pan tilt joystick: Adjusts the camera lens in the horizontal (pan) or vertical (tilt) direction. Click the direction keys on the pan tilt joystick to adjust the lens direction.
  • Lens rotation: Rotates the camera lens clockwise () or counterclockwise () to view the image. Holding down the rotation icon will continuously rotate the image by 1 degree in the selected direction.
  • Zoom: Manually adjusts the zoom magnification of the video. Select the number on the bar to zoom in or zoom out.
  • Focus: Manually adjusts the focus of the camera. Selecting the number on the bar to zoom in or zoom out.
    • Auto focus: Automatically sets the focus of the camera to the video.
  • Initialize PTRZ: Initializes the Pan/Tilt/Rotate position you set.
  • Initialize Focus: Initializes the focus of the video.

Rotation

If the video appears upside down after installing the camera, apply the video flip and mirror features. Rotate the input video without physically rotating the camera to enable normal monitoring.

To configure rotation settings, click the Rotation tab under the video.
Note: Setting the rotation of the video will affect any previously set detection or analysis areas and line information, requiring a camera to restart. After applying the rotation, reset the detection and analysis areas as needed.
  • Flip vertical(): Flips the image vertically.
  • Mirror horizontal(): Displays the video flipped horizontally.
  • Flip/Mirror(): Displays the video flipped vertically and horizontally.
  • Rotate left(): Rotates the image 90 degrees to the left.
  • Rotate right(): Rotates the image 90 degrees to the right.

Backlight settings

In backlit environments where light shines directly into the camera lens, it can be challenging to see the monitored area clearly. Select the BLC (Back Light Compensation) mode to adjust the background or monitored area settings accordingly. Click the Backlight tab to configure detailed settings.
Note: Backlight setting options may vary depending on the specifications of the connected camera.
Choose from the following options:
  • BLC (Backlight Compensation)
  • HLC (High Light Compensation)
  • WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)

BLC

The BLC (Back Light Compensation) feature compensates for backlit footage by setting a specific area to enhance visibility of objects in that area. This feature is useful for monitoring areas or objects that appear dark in footage with a light background, such as in front of a window or entrance.
  • Setting options for BLC: Low, Medium, High
  • Selecting High will make the set area brighter.

HLC

The HLC (High Light Compensation) feature compensates for strong lighting, such as streetlights or car headlights, by effectively blocking them out so that nearby objects, such as license plates, are clearly visible. In the detailed settings, set the brightness level to block highlight areas and the color of the blocked area.
  • Setting options for HLC: Low, Medium, High
  • Setting options for Mask: On, Off, Night only, All day
    • Night only: Applies the Mask setting only during times when light levels decrease. HLC activates as it gets darker after the camera sensor detects light levels.
    • All day: Applies the Mask setting at all times, but this setting will not be applied during very bright and very dark times of the day.
    • Mask tone can be set within a range of 1 to 100, affecting the mask color applied for video correction. The color of the image changes depending on the mask color, so adjust the mask color according to the camera's operating environment.
    • Mask tone and color cannot be set when Off is selected.
    Note:
    • HLC only works when highlights illuminate a specific area in a dark environment at night.
    • HLC will not function during overall bright or excessively dark conditions at night. This feature will also not work in very dark conditions during the day.
    • The setting options may vary depending on the specifications of the connected camera. For more information, see the camera manual.

WDR

The WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) feature uses the camera’s dual shutter to capture 2 images: one with a shorter shutter speed to clearly depict bright areas, and another with a longer shutter speed to illuminate dark areas. These images are combined to improve visibility in both bright and dark areas.
  • Setting options for WDR: Low, Medium, High
Note:
  • Using the WDR mode will reduce the framerate by half.
  • WDR is recommended for cameras installed indoors in environments with strong backlighting.
  • Noise may occur between bright and dark areas in WDR mode.
  • Noise may also occur in areas of motion while in WDR mode.
  • The performance of WDR may vary depending on the size of the bright area in the video, so adjust the installation angle for optimal WDR performance.
  • Setting the WDR level high may result in unnatural artifacts appearing in the video.

IR

Use the IR feature to monitor video clearly even in low-light environments. This is particularly useful for capturing clear black-and-white images at night, where appropriate brightness is essential.

To configure detailed settings, click the IR tab under the video.

Choose from the following IR setting options:
  • Off: Disables IR LEDs.
  • On: Enables IR LEDs.
  • Auto: Automatically adjusts the brightness of the IR based on the brightness of the object in the center of the image.
  • Auto 1: Automatically adjusts the brightness of the IR based on the brightness of the object in the center of the image.
  • Auto 2: Automatically adjusts the brightness of the IR based on the brightness of objects in both the center and surrounding areas of the image.
  • Manual: Uses the Manual option set in the camera.
  • Schedule: Runs IR only during the times set in the camera.
  • Sensor: Switches to IR and Day/night mode based on the light sensor’s detection.
  • Day/night: Turns IR on or off according to the Day/night mode. When the video is in color, the LED is off; when it is in black and white, the LED is on.
Note:
  • The setting options may vary depending on the specifications of the connected camera.
  • Set IR to On to set the image to black and white when the LED is on, or to Off to turn the IR LED off to enable the Day/night feature.
  • If you change the zoom magnification while using the IR dimmer, the IR dimmer will work with the zoom magnification.
  • If the surrounding temperature becomes too high, the IR LED may be forcibly turned off to protect the product.

Enhancement

Adjust the brightness, contrast, and sharpness of the camera.

To configure detailed settings, click the Enhancement tab under the video.
  • Brightness: Adjusts the brightness of the camera's image.
  • Contrast: Adjusts the shading contrast, making bright areas brighter and dark areas darker.
  • Sharpness: Adjusts the overall sharpness of the image by emphasizing edges and details. Higher sharpness settings make the outlines of objects more visible, but too high can increase noise.
